Quite often we open up the blog updates with an ‘it’s been busy’. The truth is, it’s almost always busy at BBHQ however this particular month has been unbelievably busy!
The number of plates we’re spinning have increased, the challenges upped but the opportunity to develop our brand & business have also increased & this represents an exciting time for Both Barrels & shaping our future direction.
Back in the summer we were selected, after an interview process, as one of a very small number of start-up businesses to be part of NatWest’s entrepreneur accelerator programme. The programme began in the middle of October & covers an intensive six-month calendar.
The most exciting aspects are connecting with like-minded businesses, building our business in such a way to find sustainable success & develop our vision within a fabulous, supported, environment in Spinningfields, Manchester.
This is an enormous step forwards for Both Barrels & we’ll be sharing regular updates from our experiences.
Manchester Metropolitan University
If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ll be familiar with our close relationship with MMU. Over the next few months, at least, our partnership will become more ‘official’ as we’re running a series of lectures with students focussed on fashion design, buying and merchandising.
As a small business & developing brand born & developed in Manchester, it is an enormous privilege to work alongside these bright minds & to encourage new ideas, fledgling businesses & new talent within the industry. We’re so inspired by their energy, ideas & challenger mentality.
On Friday October 19thwe were in attendance at the Design Manchester ’18. An inspiring line up of speakers shared their work, processes, highlights, reality checks & good humour. These types of events are crucial in bringing through ideas, profile & reality to some big dreams.
Held at the Bridgewater Hall, there was plenty of energy shared regarding Manchester’s design-led future. It’s amazing to see design so further up the agenda for positive change in the city & certainly we’ll be trying our hardest to represent Manchester through design too.

Made in Manchester
In amongst the chaos, we’ve also been working hard towards new product development. We’re super proud of the final offering which we’re delighted to now make available.
The highlight of the product is that it is designed, developed & now manufactured in Manchester. This is of great significance to the heart of our brand & it’s with great pride we introduce our Beanie hats.
These soft but warm & durable pieces offer superb coverage for your head during the colder, & less predictable, months to come. Each beanie can be easily stored within any of your Both Barrels bags & makes an excellent seasonal accessory to keep you covered.
And with that, it’s end of another month. As we head towards Christmas (yeah, we said it) keep your eyes peeled for a series of very special seasonal offers coming soon…
